WELCOME TO THE
CAMBRIDGESHIRE GEOLOGY CLUB WEBSITE
| |
The Cambridgeshire Geology Club was formed in November 1984 and was created at the time to replace the “Geological Section” of the University of Cambridge, Natural History Society which ceased to exist about this time. The Club is open to all grades of interest in geology.
Since 1984 the Club has grown considerably and welcomes professional
and amateur geologists alike and caters for |

Field
interpretations of the various chalk
beds Cherry Hinton East Chalk Pit,
Cherry Hinton, Cambridge |
Throughout the
year we hold monthly lectures which
cover topics of local geological
interest as well as those of a more
global nature.
The Club is actively involved in identifying sites of geological interest throughout the county of Cambridgeshire and takes a keen interest in the preservation and conservation of these sites. If you would like to participate in these field interpretation visits please give us a call, we need as many volunteers as possible to assist in our various programmes.
|
 |
We
organise field trips during the
summer months and our recent trips
have included the Mendips, Malvern
Hills, and the Suffolk coast plus
many local day trips organised by
the committee members.
The creation of this website is one
of the latest initiatives of the
members and we hope to provide much
information on the local geology of
Cambridgeshire, and information on
our field trips and lecture
programmes. |

There are also
links to sister clubs and societies which will provide more
information as required. |
We hope
that whatever your geological interests are
be they on the rocks, minerals or fossils
there is sure to be an interest here for all
to share. So please come along, join the
Club and help to promote the awareness of
the geology and landscapes of
Cambridgeshire. |
